Our commitment

The Center for Houston’s Future is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to people of all abilities. Everyone in our region deserves equal access to the information, research, and programs we offer, and we work to remove barriers that may prevent people with disabilities from using this site.

Conformance standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These internationally recognized guidelines help make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

What we’ve done

• Structured pages with clear, semantic headings so they can be navigated with assistive technology.
• Added descriptive alternative text to meaningful images.
• Maintained strong color contrast between text and its background.
• Ensured the site can be navigated using a keyboard.
• Built a responsive layout that adapts to different devices and screen sizes and supports text resizing.
• Provided an accessibility toolbar on every page with options to adjust text, contrast, spacing, and more.

Look for the accessibility icon in the lower-left corner of every page. Selecting it opens a menu of tools — including larger text, higher contrast, a readable font, link highlighting, a reading guide, and a built-in screen reader — that you can turn on or off at any time.

Ongoing effort

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time project. As we add new content and features, we review them against these standards and continue to test and improve the experience over time.
